Windows Hello Sign in Set Up
Prerequisites
- A Surface Laptop running Windows 10 or later.
- An active user account with administrative privileges.
- The latest Windows updates installed.
Windows Hello Sign in Set up
Step 1: Open Settings
- Right click on the Start menu.
- Select the Settings gear icon.

Step 2: Access Accounts Settings
- In the Settings window, click on Accounts.
- In the left sidebar, click on Sign-in options.

Step 3: Set Up a PIN
- In the Sign-in options section, find the PIN option under Windows Hello.
- Click on Add.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your PIN. You will need to enter your Microsoft account password and then create a PIN.

Step 4: Set Up Face Recognition
- In the Sign-in options section, find the Face recognition (Windows Hello) option.
- Click on Set up.
- Click on Get started.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to position your face in front of the camera.
- Once the scan is complete, click Close to finish the setup.

Step 5: Test Your Windows Hello Setup
- Lock your Surface Laptop by pressing Windows key + L.
- Try signing in using your face recognition.
- If face recognition doesn't work, use your PIN to sign in
Troubleshooting

Face Recognition Not Working: Ensure your camera is not obstructed and there is adequate lighting. You can also improve recognition by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Improve recognition.

PIN Issues: If you forget your PIN, you can reset it by clicking on I forgot my PIN on the sign-in screen and following the instructions.
